What NRM2 means

NRM2 (RICS New Rules of Measurement) is the standard method for measuring and describing building works in Bills of Quantities. It replaced SMM7 in 2013 and is the accepted standard for UK construction tendering.

A NRM2 BoQ means contractors know exactly what they're pricing — reducing risk for both parties and making tender comparisons straightforward.

Scope and limitations

Suitable for projects up to approximately £5m construction value at this price — larger projects may require a revised fee
Measurement is from drawings provided — we cannot measure what is not drawn
Specifications and PC sums: we will include provisional sums for unspecified elements and ask you to confirm
M&E (mechanical and electrical): we include budget allowances and PC sums for M&E unless detailed M&E drawings are provided
